Marantz PM 710 DC Amplifier Solid State FULLY RESTORED ALL NEW ELECTROLYTIC CAPS
The amplifier has been thoroughly tested on both a working level as well as a component level which included the replacement of all electrolytic capacitors with new stock low ESR/high hour 105 degree electrolytics (often with higher voltage ratings) and in a few instances upgrading to a metalized film capacitor (outside foil connected to ground) based on its function in the circuit. Any resist...ors that were suspect of having drifted out of tolerance were also replaced. The switches, faders and pots have been treated with contact cleaner and fader lube, they all have a smooth feel and clean sound when adjusting. The amp has received a thorough cleaning inside and out which included the meter windows interior. The top of the amp has very few scratches or evidence of having components stacked on top of it. The amp came to me without its original 2 prong AC cord so the old 2 prong has been upgraded to a 3 prong IEC connector to accomodate modern power cords, this upgrade did not require any modification to the amplifier chassis and the ground (earth) connection was left open on the IEC connector. A power cord will be included with the amplifier. After everything was reinstalled the amp underwent thorough testing for functionality, over-heating, rms rating, and most importantly a listening test was performed over an extended period of time (several hours) at various db levels ranging from low levels that one could speak over without straining, all the way to extremely loud levels that require ear plugs to avoid hearing loss and almost surely pissed off the neighbors. At all volume levels the amplifier retains a high amount of fidelity. Crisp, open high end free of any compressed sizzly distortion. The low end has the ability to get way down into the mud without sounding like mud and without distorting. And the mids and low mids are very clear and punchy. With the amp hooked to an 8 ohm dummy load, a signal generator feeding 1khz sine wave, and my Tektronix TDS 210 oscilloscope the amplifier produced just under 90 watts per channel before any signs of clipping on the scope. So this amp exceeds its RMS rating by almost 10 watts per channel which really says alot about the quality of these vintage amplifiers and receivers.
Shipping will include over packing and protecting to ensure that the amp reaches its destination safely and undamaged. All knobs are removed from the amp and safely packed, this greatly reduces the chance of damage during delivery. Extra delivery insurance is always added incase any damage does occur or the package is lost or stolen.
