Original Description:
INFO SUGGESTED BY WEBSITE: Apple Macintosh PowerBook G3 Pismo M7572 400MHz 640MB RAM 40GB HDD Airport Card. Condition is "Used". Shipped with USPS Priority Mail.
ACTUAL DETAILS: This computer has a 400MHz PowerPC G3 processor, a 512MB 100MHz So-DIMM, and a 128MB 100MHz So-DIMM, a 40GB hard drive, a DVD burner, an AirPort card, and a 1024x768 color display with 8MB of video memory (less than most calculators!).  It is running OS X 10.4.11 and it boots from off and cold to a runn...ing Finder in about 40 seconds.
EVEN MORE SPECIFICS: I haven't tested the DVD drive. Don't have any Apple discs to use (except for a System 7 disc but this can't run that I don't think) but I might try watching a movie on it (while plugged in, because the battery alone probably won't get through the previews).  Will update the listing if I find it works.  The RAM tests OK, the hard drive has plenty of space, and this thing has Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Photoshop CS on it.  If you ever wanted to learn those programs on Mac, this might be a good way to do it without spending thousands!  I can definitely say I'm shocked this one computer out of ALL my older laptops still runs.  It's older than all of them, but all of the rest I'm going to be parting out instead of selling whole because this runs and they don't!  So there's that, and I think that's a testament to this computer and how good it was to begin with.
INSIGHTS: The crown jewel of computing in the mid-2000s, the "Pismo" was one of the most portable, most powerful, and most versatile of the G3 era Apple computers.  It had loads of expansion possibilities and so far in my testing, everything seems to work!  It has a good trackpad and clicker, good keyboard with no missing keys, a clean and bright screen, and the battery even holds a charge.  I can't guarantee the battery life considering its age, but it does charge quickly even while running, almost as fast as it depletes itself during use.  I guess that's a good thing, I don't really know what it's supposed to be, but after 15 or so years can we really complain?  I don't have an Apple branded charger for this but the aftermarket one still gets it up to about 92% while running.  All 4 green lights show when the button on the battery is pressed.  It only runs about about 20-25 minutes if unplugged from AC power.  Maybe it can be conditioned to work better if it's charged and depleted a few cycles, but I don't know much about those processes so I'll not attempt to do it myself with a non-Apple charger.
DISCLAIMERS and OTHER LEGAL GARBAGE: The laptop has been in dry storage for NINE YEARS in a sealed Samsonite briefcase along with its charger (included) and a few magazines.  It was already an old laptop when it was put away and I was the third owner at that time.  I will pick a random cardboard box to put it in, probably one that held some taillights I bought for my van because it'll allow me to package it well.  It will be taped shut and packaged as carefully as I'm able to with various air filled bags, styrofoam blocks, and bubble wrap from other things I've bought recently.  I don't think I have an anti-static bag large enough for this but I will include one if I do.  NONE of the ORIGINAL packaging for this item is available, nor are any accessories, manuals, drivers, discs, or anything else.  This auction is for the laptop, an aftermarket charger, and one power cord ONLY.  It is not in museum quality condition and it does have scuffs and small scratches and imperfections so be aware that my cheap cell phone pictures do NOT provide the entire story.  I am not an expert or genius (haha, just ask my wife) SO...it is being sold AS IS with all faults and defects it may or may not have, with no guarantees if anything works by the time you receive it.  I am just cleaning out storage and will not accept returns for these currently listed items.
NOTES: See my other auctions for other random computer parts and automotive goodies.  If I can make enough money selling these currently listed items, I can afford to pay the exorbitant pricing for new video cards for my wife and I, freeing up the wee little GT1030's we're making do with for my kids so they can play things other than Minecraft and Roblox on their computers.  It's not charity, but it is what it is.
