This "Hardys'" "Perfect" fly reel has "The Perfect 3 7/8", Made By Hardy Bros Ltd, Alnwick, England" impressed in to the back plate. The reel still revolves well with a good smooth action in a constant check, there is no play when the spool is rocked.The line guide has lost a little finish in places but there is no line burn and it is well attached.The ribbed brass foot and handle are well attached. The rim regulator screw moves fine and the the reel has retained much of its' original... finish however, there is a little pitting to the outer cage rim in one place, there is also some wear around the handle and the usual scratches, marks and scuffs that you would expect from a well used item of this age.Internally the reel is stamped "T.A.", these are the initials of the gentleman who made the reel, Thomas Appleby, he worked for "Hardy's" between 1920 - 1947.
