Excellent quality original 210 year old sterling silver set; a handsome size and beautiful shape, both pieces are all-over decorated with engraved grapes and vine-leaves and have attractive embossed reeded banding. They rest on oval pedestal bases and still have partially gilt-lined interiors. There are no added personal engraved monograms or crests, nothing erased. Fine heavy silver weight, approx 355 grams. Measurements Impressive sizes, the sugar bowl measures approx. 7.95 inches (201mm) in length (including handles), x 4.7 inches (119mm) wide and is 3.75 inches (95mm) in height. The cream jug measures 6.5 inches (165mm) x 3.65 inches (92mm) and stands 3.45 inches (85mm) in height. Date English antique early 19th century Georgian solid sterling silver, with a full set of silver hallmarks for London 1809 (date letter "O"). Marks include the crowned lions head of the London assay office and the silver duty stamp of King George the Third. Date letter unclear on the jug but 100% all original and matching.Maker Silversmiths initials partially obscured but almost certainly "S H" for the London silver maker Solomon Hougham - (1792-1818). Condition Lovely condition and ready to be used. No splits or cracks, definitely no solder repairs or wear holes and no nasty knocks or dents, a very nice genuine original pair and a beautiful shape. Handsome large sizes with an excellent heavy silver weight and with no added personal engraved monograms or crests.
