Five of these tools are triangular style projectile points, The other relics is a nice crescent blade. Most of ...these ancient tools were used to hunt and process water fowl and other game in the now dried up lakes of the Sahara 4, 000 years ago. These came out of a frame from my personal collection. This frame contained mostly rarer black and white flints. By lithic type/color these are much more scarce than the usual Sahara Neolithic lithics.  As I was collecting SN over the past 20+ years or so, I would hold them back for my collection as they were more attractive than most relics I was seeing.   Now it is time to let them go. Slowly! My start price is very low for relics of this quality. I only have a certain amount left, get some quality while you can!The last picture is of the frame from which these SIX came out of. You are bidding on the SIX pictured relics NOT the entire frame. The framed picture is  to give you an idea of what the grouping looked like before breaking it up!The shortest tool is 7/16th inch (15 mm). The longest triangle is   1 1/8th inches (28 mm).
For further scale see the picture with the penny, it is not included in the auction. The condition is good, see picture for details. Colors are brighter than the picture indicates; (too much sun). These relics are representative of everyday tools, many of these tools were used until they could no longer function well because they were to small to re-sharpen at which point they were discarded others were lost in the hunt.
Neolithic populations living near now dried lakes and rivers in what is now the Sahara desert; used these tools in the hunt for and processing of waterfowl and small game. The end of the Ice Age resulted in global climate changes which stopped the rains and forced these Neolithic (New Stone Age) peoples into new modes of existence, either agriculture which was just beginning at the end of the Neolithic, or a nomadic animal husbandry mode of existence. The New Stone Age was a very dynamic era giving rise to agriculture, pottery, and permanent settlements, all of which were milestones in humankind's march toward 'civilized' life. The Sahara Neolithic lasted from 9, 000 to 4, 000 BP (years Before Present). I will include my 2-page essay on the Sahara Neolithic to explain something of the Neolithic era and context in which these tools were found.
