PLEASE READ THIS DESCRIPTION CAREFULLY!!!.....Another nice lot of uniform/clothes buttons from the estate of renowned long time antique button collector Nancy Moran (my mom). She was (is) a longtime member of the National Button Society, plus was active in several local button clubs in New York. She has moved to Florida to be with me and my brother and is downsizing, so I am helping her sell some of her collection. This lot features a rare7/8" in diameter brass uni...form button from the NY & C.M.S.S.L steamship line. The NY reference was from the New York based "Ward Line" as seen in the large "W" in the flag on the button. The CMSSL stands for "Cuba Mail Steamship Line". I assume they had some kind of joint relationship between the 2 companies. The backmark is B.M. Whitlock...New York. The button is in pretty nice shape but there is a "recessed/flattened" spot to the right of the flag. Not major damage but should be noted. See attached photos for more detail on the condition.
