Montblanc 146 1st Issue Celluloid Fountain Pen 1948. 14C F Flex Nib. Ultra RARE. Metal Telescopic Piston works perfect. Just serviced. Pen has ZERO Splits, Cracks or Repairs etc. ULTRA Rare Pen.
Made in Germany between 1948-49 ONLY in this exact form. This wonderful Montblanc is a TRUE first issue. ULTRA RARE pens. They have several UNIQUE to 1948 features that separate them from 1949-50s examples. The Blind Cap (Tail end) is shorter and fatter. The 146G imprint is LARGE unique size Font. By ...1949 this 146G imprint was made slightly smaller. By 1950 it was made much smaller. The fabulous Orange Amber see through LONG lined Ink Window is the longest ever put onto a 146. By 1949 it was made a touch shorter 3mm or so Yet those are still the Long window version not the Short window version option that came 1950s. The Clip is also UNIQUE to 1948-49 with its raised central Art Deco Shoulder where it joins the ring of the Clip. The Caps White Star Top has a UNIQUE groove cut to fit this raised shoulder on the Clip (see photo 3). Unique Nib imprints and also UNIQUE feed. ONLY 1st issue 146 have this Ski Slope Flat Feed with no lines. Very unusual left over from 136 models. However I have seen 4 or 5 of these 1st issue 146 over the years and they ALL have this unique for 146 Ebonite Feed.
The 14C Nib is also unique to 1946-52 with its shaded encircled (M) logo center nib. Unique in these size 6 nibs to models 136 and 146 only. The Nibs central section is Rhodium plate. It writes with a Fine to Extra Fine line at normal pressure. Very elegant. The nib also has flexibility that allows for even more line width variation on the down stroke when varying levels of pressure is applied. It can Flex from Extra Fine to Bold Broad. In other words ALL line widths you need in everyday creative writing. The flex is quite user friendly in that it is not soft, loose or twitchy. Only flexes upon user command never by its self.
