18K 1930’s Ermeto Movada Master Travel Clock, RARE Original Leather Case. Condition is Used. Shipped with USPS Priority Mail.
Fine, Art Deco, rectangular, 18k yellow gold, Sterling silver, enameled, keyless, manually wound, purse 'travel' watch with Presentation dated to 1930, 'Ermeto chronometer, Master' model, made by Movado, Switzerland circa 1930. Comes with its brown leather ovoid canister fitted case marked Ermeto, Movado "Master". (The Master was the second larges...t of the Ermeto watches-See notes)
Description Case: The outer bipartite cover is silver with black and gold enameled striping running horizontally. When closed there is a midline hallmarked Sterling vertical border band encircling the case and the length of the closed case is 2.25". Separating the two part case into the open position, the 18k gold watch case is exposed. The presentation inscription on the back of the watch case reads, "Louise from Fletcher, Dec. 25, 1930". It is also marked, "Movado, '1209509', Patent, Movado Factories, Swiss", and below, "Swiss Made, Fab Suisse". There is a very thin fluted gold winding crown place at the twelve position which is wound by opening and shutting the outer covers (Patented by Movado) The 18k yellow gold bezel is fluted.Dial: Art Deco, square silvered dial with 'radiumed', upright Arabic hours, closed minute ring around the perimeter of the dial, luminous skeleton hands and the dial marked "Chronometre Movado" above and "Swiss" at the base of the dial. Movement: Not shown but thought to be a size 8 1/2''', rhodium-plated, damascene decorated, 18 jewels (some made with 15 jewels), straight-line lever escapement, bimetallic compensation balance, Breguet balance spring, Patented ‘Ermelo” winding device by means of the sliding case. Dial, case and movement signed.Condition: Dial - Minimal speckling of the dial. Case - Excellent despite some oxidation of the silver border and some accumulation of dirt on the case which can be CAREFULLY cleaned by a jeweler. Movement - considered functional. Box - Rarely seen and in very fine used condition, a major plus. Overall about as good as these get!!!
