Original Description:
An original Aviation Membership Card of Lt. Edward Louis Feinberg who was an Jewish Army Air Corps Officer with the 453rd Bombing Group. Lt. Feinberg  shot down over Germany and was a POW for over a year.     The Card was issued at Maxwell Field Alabama to Pre Flight PILOT Cadet's and is dated 11-11-42. The card is signed on the back by Edward L. Feinberg, Class F Squadron C Group 7. 
Also included with this original card is a copy of The Jewi...sh Post news article of May 5 1944, reporting Lt. Feinberg is missing in action over Germany and two recently printed photos of Major Jimmy Stewart with Lt. Feinberg's the 453rd Bomb Group. 
On April 8, 1944 Lt. Feinberg was the navigator on a bombing mission to Brunswick, Germany. His B-24 was attacked by German Ace Josef Zwernemann in his Focke-Wulf Fw 190 near Uelzen, Germany and shot down.   Three crew-members were killed on the aircraft and he and 6 other crewmen bailed out and were captured and became POWs. Lt. Feinberg spent the rest of the war as a POW in Stalag. Luft Camp Germany until the Russians Army liberated him in 1945.  Lt. Feinberg was a Navigator with the 8thAir Force, 453rd Bomber Group, 735th Bombardment Squadron, (RAF Old Buckenham Airfield) The 453rd Bomb Group was Major Jimmy Stewart’s (actor) Bomb Group and Major Stewart was at the Buckenham Airfield, England the day that Lt. Feinberg took off on his last mission.   About the mission: 
On 8 April, 1944, thirty-five B-24 Liberator bombers of the 453rd Bombing Group flew from England to join the 2nd Air Division, 8th Air Force on a bombing raid to Brunswick, Germany. Five of the group’s bombers return to England having to abort because to malfunctions. About 8 hours after take-off, only twenty-three B-24's returned to the Old Buckenham airfield, England. Seven aircraft (each had a ten man crew)  had been lost to German fighters and flak.  On that one mission, the 2nd Air Division lost thirty B-24's and 300 aircrew. April 1944 became the costliest month of the war to date for the bomber crews flying the massive daylight missions on targets in France, Belgium and Germany. What you will get:You will get the original signed card, a copy of Lt.
