Description and Item Information
Up for sale is this framed, vintage Sadao Watanabe stencil print. Please excuse any glare in the photos. This print depicts a Biblical scene of Jesus Christ with a grape vine. The print is matted and framed under anti-glare glass. The frame is black-painted wood. The sight area within the mat borders is approximately 10 3/16 inches by 8 inches. The exterior frame dimensions are about 14 1/2 inches... by 11 inches. Unpacked, this piece weighs 1 pound 11.4 ounces. This would be a good addition to a collection of Asian decorative arts.
Identification
This vintage Sadao Watanabe print is circa 1979. Verso are two labels from Kanda's Gallery of Japan (locations in Tokyo, Okinawa, Yokota, and Misawa). The larger label indicates that this a stencil by Sadao Watanabe. The artist was born in 1913 (and passed away in 1996, according to Wikipedia). He studied under Yanagi Soetsu and Serizawa Keisuke, who were the founders of the Japanese folk art movement. Watanabe exhibited in 1947 at the Folk Art Exhibition at the Folk Art Museum, in 1958 at the Contemporary Japanese Print Show (New York), in 1962 at the Tokyo International Exhibition, in 1962 at the Portland Art Museum (one-man show), and in 1972 at the Modern Japanese Print Show at Sapporo Winter Olympics. His works are in the National Museum of Modern Art in Tokyo, the Folkcraft Museum in Tokyo, and in the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston.
Condition
This piece looks very good overall, as shown. I have not examined the artwork outside of the frame, as it was already framed when I acquired it. The frame has light wear. Please review the description and photos, and ask any necessary questions prior to bidding or buying.

1. Payments
Taxes may be applicable. The correct shipping address must be included with payment. Payments must be received within three days of the end of the listing, unless prior arrangements have been made.
2. Shipping
Good packaging is included; double-boxing is not necessarily included. Framed art will not be shipped unframed. The seller usually ships on Mondays and Thursdays. The merchandise will normally be shipped on the seller's next shipping day after payment clears. The seller is not responsible for the transit time once the merchandise has been accepted by the shipping carrier.
Shipping includes delivery to a physical address via a method of the seller's choice. If the buyer prefers a different shipping method other than that chosen by the seller, or if delivery is to a post office box, additional shipping costs may be required. At the seller's discretion, a signature may be required for delivery.
Shipping quotes must be requested prior to all international bidding or buying. For international shipping, there may be parcel size restrictions or prohibitions on certain classes of merchandise. Customs forms will not be falsified.
