Original Description:
Unusual small alarm verge fusee clock.
This is rare variation of alarms on bell, developing in France during XVIII century.
Among these clocks most known is known is system of Henri Laresche, patented in beginning of XIX, but the clock on sale is older than Laresche's construction.

Afaha bulletin N 34 shows virtually identical exemplar and explains the principles of this kind of clocks.
Very similar alarm system from early XVIII century is also described in NAWCC (Nati...onal Association of Watch and Clock Collectors), N 90, February of 1961.
It's based on the verge fusee movement with specially modified cannon pinion, which drives alarm disc.
The movement rotates white enamel dial with a pin.
In a certain moment the pin releases the bell, that is held by the spring, making the ring.
The alarm clock is made in rococo style with beautiful gilt bronze mount.
The silver bell is covered with floral ornament, the bell's holder is stylised for swan's neck.

This clock is made by Jean Francois de Belle, it's signed on the movement.
Jean Francois de Belle became Master Watchmaker in 1781 and installed in Paris on the rue de l'Arbre Sec.
He was specialist in the clock watches with automatons, one of them is being kept in Royal Palace in Madrid.
Other one automaton clock "The Resurrection of the 'Empress' was made for the Empress Josephine of France, is being kept now in Denver's Clock Manor.

Condition
Clock appears to be in quite good condition.
Movement and alarm is functioning.
The mount and bell seems to be in good condition.
The porcelain dial has minor hairline.
Length is about 20 cm, height is 11 cm.
