Beautiful vintage Gibson Les Paul Ebony Custom from 1987. It was built in Gibson’s Nashville plant and finished on April 10th 1987 (serial 81007535). Of course being from ‘87 it has an Ebony fingerboard, not Richlite as Gibson use today on all their customs and a pair of amazing sounding Tim Shaws. It’s in all original condition with absolutely no breaks or repairs. It has somewhere between a ‘59-‘60 neck profile and weighs in at 4.7kg. Plenty of life left in the frets (never... been refretted, still has nibs), the truss rod is fine and the neck is straight. No problems either structurally or electrically. This was the last year for the Shaws and they are non-ink stamped, they sound superb. There is some wear as you’d expect but not on the scale you often see on these. It looks like it has had a new nut fitted. A little buckle rash on the back, some light scratches with two more noticeable ones on the bottom. It has two wear patches on either side of the headstock where the nitrocellulose has reacted in the past with a foam guitar stand. It doesn’t really notice but feels rough to the touch. It comes with original blue lined Gibson Chainsaw HSC with all latches working it even has the Gibson badge still firmly attached on the top (these usually fall off & are lost) with all latches working.
