 Private Will Burgess writes to his sister, Lillie from Fort Warren where it has been raining for a couple of weeks. He tells her that they had gone on a march the day before yesterday at 4 PM toward the railroad where there had been heavy fighting. They built breastworks, stayed over night and returned to the fort. General Birney has left and they don't know why. General Hancock was in the fort that morning and told them that they would commence making improvements since they wou...ld be staying a while. He received the package from home and has started using the alum. He is happy to hear that his mother is off on a trip to visit family. Four pages in pencil.
