Original Description:
This is a Hand Carved, Hand Painted,   Wood Figure of an Old Salt, or SALTY.  At first I thought it was signed ELY HANAH, but when I looked at other similar carvings, I realized, it says BY HANAH. 

I have seen this figure done by a family of carvers, who spell their name Hannah, so I don't know if the artist had a bad day or what...
The figure is about 6 inches tall, including base, in very nice condition.   He is done in a style which looks a lot li...ke the Scandinavian flat plane tradition.  The Hannah family of Carvers was influenced by French Canadian and Scandinavian Carvers.  

A nice addition to a Folk Art/ nautical theme collection.
