Rare Antique R B Cycle Graphic Zeiss Bausch Lomb Folmer Schwing Camera
Folmer & Schwing R.B. Graphic 5x7 Camera. The camera on the inside is in very nice shape. The bellows pull out very smoothly and all controls do work. Bellows are a little worn on the outside but I did not see any light leaks when I quickly inspected it against my studio lights. That does not mean that i might of missed so very small hole somewhere. The outside leather coating on the camera is worn, It ...is so worn that it has developed an amazing patina that I would have a hard time restoring.
Camera has a Bausch & Lomb Iris Diaphragm Shutter with Bausch & Lomb Zeiss Convertible Anastigmat 14in focal length cell. The Basuch & Lomb Zeiss Convertible Anastigmat lenses featured sets of front and back cells both of 4 elements each. Both front and rear cells could be used together or the front cell could be used alone or the back cell could be used alone providing 3 different focal lengths. This shutter only has one cell. This cell features 4 elements and is 14in focal length with an aperture of f/12.5. COVERS 8x10 wide open. These were EXPENSIVE back in the day.
Glass is clear and clean with a hint of balsalm separation (glue) showing at extreme edge - no impact to image making as its at the very edge. The 14" cell covers 8x10 when mounted in the rear of the shutter. Shutter works on all instantaneous speeds and pretty accurate for 100+ years old ! On the time setting the shutter opens fine but doesn't close but maybe I am doing it wrong. Please note this is over 100 years old and is an antique. Can be used but please keep your expectations of performance in check Please look at the pictures closely and judge the condition and content of this lot for yourself as our photos are a large portion of our description.
