This piece has so many possible uses and will surely continue to delig...ht and enchant its new owner.Norris Manufacturing Company, Columbus, OH, c. 1922 through 1933 made these gumball/peanut vending machines and they are referred to as the "Star Door Masters". It has "Patent Aug 14. 1923 - Other Pats Pending" embossed above the gate. It has the original jadeite/mint green paint on the top lid and base with few chips as seen in photos. The cabinet sides are painted the original tan and the glass has no chips or cracks. The serial number reads "13257" The open-stenciled star embossed on the gate still looks terrific and the flattened knob reads "Turn" with an arrow. The gate reads "Hold Hand Aad Lift Up" Missing key to open and remove coins - but have seen several keys being listed for sale by other ebay sellers. (Search: Original Corbin Norris Master Gumball Key Lock ) Also missing the top screw to the lid making it easier to add gumballs or anything inside. However, a new screw or nut could be used as an alternative. Star Doors of this type are not totally rare, but are very hard to find in this color and in this condition.
