Incredible vintage 1930's Art Deco wedding dress in a luminous ivory satin, with architectural seaming and sculptural self-fabric floral appliqués. Bodice front is constructed with arched bust seams and tapered "V" straps converging at a beautiful floral corsage. Mirrored deep back "V" ends in an asymmetrical cascade of oversized petals down left side. Skirt is slim through hip, then opens to a flowing bias skirt, draped longer at the sides and back. Attached self belt with silver met...al rhinestone buckle. Closes with snaps at left side.
For fit comparision, the dress form shown measures: 33" bust, 25.5" waist, and 35.5" hip. The belt has been pinned to fit the form in photos, but no other pinning was used. The belt length can be easily altered at the buckle ends if needed.
bust - approx. 38"waist - 30" at smallest point, 15" from shoulder / belt sits at 16.5" from shoulder and measures 32" hip - 40.5" at 24.5" from shoulderbodice length (shoulder to belt) - 16.5"skirt length (center of belt to hem) - approx. 33" at center front and 40" at center back
condition - This dress was purchased from an estate and has not been cleaned. It is wrinkled from storage, but was not steamed or pressed to avoid setting any stains. It appears to have been otherwise well stored and is free of storage dust or odors, but there are surface flaws to mention. There are several areas of colorless (or slightly pale) matte spots and smudges to the fabric, including at waist front and down mid to lower left skirt side. Due to the fabric sheen, these areas are not apparent in all photos (please see photos 9-12 for most notable examples). The underarms have light discoloration and little thin spots in fabric (photo 8). There are several small spots overall, the most notable of which include: a few small beige spots on low left and back of skirt (photos 11-12), small smudges on right strap front and at base of neckline (photo 7), a pinhead spot at right bust, and a few small blue marks along top of snap placket (photo 8). There are areas of very faint discoloration at the low waist front seam (photo 10, left) and also to skirt, seen on close inspection. There is more significant staining to the underside of the neckline straps, almost like a dried adhesive or oil stain (not seen when worn - photo 12) The skirt has two minor 1/4" tears several inches above the hem and a short seam break at base of V-shaped seam. Overall, there are a few other minor surface abrasions, spots, and pinpoint holes seen upon close inspection. The appliqués would benefit from some additional securing stitches. Belt buckle is missing some stones and has several replacement stones. Sold as found.
