Original letter from John Quincy Adams (1767-1848) to Solomon Lincoln, Esq. Hingham. It is congratulations to Lincoln as U.S. Marshal for the District of Nafsa, Massachusetts. The letter is written as evidenced at the top Washington 17 March 1841. This congratulatory letter, in paragraph two, mentions the Schooner Amistad. The letter is signed by John Quincy Adams at bottom: J.Q. Adams. In 1841 John Quincy Adams was a member of the House of Representatives.... He served as the sixth President of the United States from 1825-1829. He was a member of the House of Representatives from 1831-1848. The letter is sight size: 7" x 5" and has folds. The letter has a blind stamp seal upper left corner that says SATIN and it appears it may have some sort of brown round mark seal? or dirt mark? next to the word Washington at top. The brown round mark has little holes in it with magnification. This framed letter which also includes a reproduction photo of John Quincy Adams came from a collector's estate in Glendale, California. The collector was one who collected historical presidential items. The framed size of this item is 16-3/4" x 20-1/2".
