CRANBERRY “IVT” HPENAMELED PICKLE CASTOR in TUFTS SILVER PLATE FRAME – SUPER!This auction is for theCranberry Pickle Castor insert in the silver plate frame pictured above. The insert has glassthat is clear, bright and vibrant and from the color and quality of this piece, there is no doubt that it was made by a top tier glass house.
It measures 4 7/8”tall, 3” across the top, about 4” at the shoulder and 3” across the base thatshows a limited amount of old wear.
Th...e exterior surface issmooth, except for the base, where the tiny circles feels raised. The“thumbprints” appear to increase in diameter from the base to the rim.
This insert isdecorated with pretty hand painted enamel white and yellow flowers with white “fern-like”leaves and gold stems that encircle this insert.
This insert sits in asilver plate frame that is marked “JAMES W. TUFTS” “QUADRUPLE PLATE” – “BOSTON”“WARRANTED” with all encircling the Tufts’ “T” mark. Set below the Mark is theincused number “3617” and above and to the left of the Tufts’ Mark is theincused number “32”.
The frame is verynicely decorated with “Sunflowers” and nicely detailed geometric on all 4 feet.The lid is also very nicely decorated with a center floral, surrounded bydetailed geometrics.
This REALLY NICE frame measures 11” tall andjust about 3 7/8” across the base. This frame is undamaged and the platinglooks to be intact and also like it could use a good polishing.
The tongs measure 76 ½”long and again look like they could use a good polishing.
CONDITION: I do not see anything that wouldowe an apology on this piece.
