CRANBERRY “IVT” HPENAMELED PICKLE CASTOR in QUEEN CITY SILVER PLATE FRAME – SUPER!This auction is for theCranberry Pickle Castor insert in the silver plate frame pictured above. The insert has glassthat is clear, bright and vibrant and from the color and quality of this piece, there is no doubt that it was made by a top tier glass house.
It measures 5” tall, 31/8” across the top and 2 3/8” across the base that shows a limited amount ofold wear. The exterior surface is s...mooth with an interior IVT pattern.
This insert isdecorated with pretty Enameled, Hand Painted White outlined with Lavender “Arches”and a series of White dots with White scallops beneath.
The area between thesedesigns is decorated with a series of Gold Dots connected by thin Lavender linesforming equilateral triangles. The enameling encircles the top two-thirds ofthe insert.
This insert sits in asilver plate frame that is marked “CICINNATUS” “QUADRUPLE” QUEEN CY. SIL. CO.” andthere is also the number “1309”
The frame is verynicely decorated with highly detailed floral and geometric figures at the baseand on top of the handle. The 4 curved feet are also beautifully detailed. Thelid is also very nicely executed.
This REALLY NICE frame measures 13” tall andjust about 4 3/8” across the four feet. The plating looks to be virtually intactand like it could use a good polishing.
The tongs measure 6 5/8”long and the plating on both the tongs and the lid also looks to be intact.
CONDITION: The “scroll” decoration on the side of the handle opposite thetong’s hook appears to be reattached. Other than that, I do notsee anything that would owe an apology on this piece.
