1955 Singer 221 Featherweight With Case & Pedal Control & Accessories
Item History & Price
First, I do not know anything about sewing machines.
I looked up the serial number and I believe this machine is from 1955. The serial number is AN189542.
I plugged it in and the pedal control works but the light bulb must be burned out as it does not light up.
The piece that holds the tread on the top of the machine... has broken but there is a replacement piece included. Part of the old piece is still attached so you will have to unscrew that to put the new piece on.
The gold painted trim has worn off some especially under the machine where the cloth would run over it.
The green instruction booklet that is with it is copyrighted 1954. There is also a brown soft cover book with it which is copyrighted 1992. It is titled " Featherweight 221 The Perfect Portable by Nancy Johnson-Srebro.
The metal plaque on the back of the machine reads " Sewing Motor Cat. 3-120, 110 to 120 volts - 0.4 Amps. - 25 to 75 cyc. + D.C. - S.S. AU 61-18-1 The Singer Mfg. Co. Elizabethport, IN. U.S.A. "
Please feel free to ask questions. I will try to answer them to the best of my ability.
