The firm traces its roots to 1833 New York City when they were listed asGale, Wood & Hughes.
William Gale was their master till 1845.Examples in major collections including the Museum of City of New York.
In tapering urn form with beaded mid-section.The gently in-curved shoulder with classical portrai...t medallion, framed byhand decorated leaf and floral sprays.
Cover retains the elaborately cast architectural finial, featuring tapering rolled leaf and vinelattice, and center globe with beaded edge satin chased cone above.Bead and sleeve crown spout with conforming pierced shield and vine accent.Shaded panel border to base with cut out foot edge.
Never monogrammed.
This c1870 medallion silver pitcher is 7 1/4 inches and a bit under 15 standard ounces.
In fine condition.Interior clean as if little used.Rich silver patina
and retains original detail.Handle secure.
