An important, c1830 Hamilton family silver (916 pure) bird head coffee pot from theshop of Samuel Kirk.
Hamilton family crest & motto, a ducal coronet supporting oak tree and frame saw, for clan Hamilton dating to 1475 Scotland.This c1830 Kirk coffee potwas very likely owned by one of Alexander Hamilton's (Founding Father & first Treasurer of the United States)children.
This Hami...lton family coffee pot in raised cauldron form with scrolling fruit and floralto rim and base edge, and wide beautifully detailed grape and leaf on satin center border.Cover retains the original folded edge leaf framed satin surface bud finialabove fruit and floral edge platter.Boldly cast leaf "ear" birds head spout.Leaf accented bud crown double scroll handle.
One side with family crest, a crown supporting oak tree with motto "Through"opposite side script initials JC (?).
Hallmarked as shown.
This c1830 Hamilton family bird spout coffee pot is 13 inches tall
