Here's the lineup: ***Mid-Atlantic ChampionshipWrestling airing on WTVR TV 6 in Richmond, VA on September 11, 1976--- (1) In your a...rea (IYA) localpromos of fan favorites Paul Jones (wrestling Ric Flair for the Mid-AtlanticTitle) and Wahoo McDaniel (wrestling Blackjack Mulligan for the United StatesTitle) conducted by Les Thatcher promoting the upcoming matches at the RichmondArena on September 17, 1976. (2) A local insertedinterview just for Richmond with Les Thatcher discussing with Ric Flair how the"Nature Boy" is still the Mid-Atlantic Champion despite Dusty Rhodeswalking out of the Richmond Coliseum on September 4, 1976 after"beating" Flair for the Mid-Atlantic Title! The first recordedexplanation of a "Dusty finish" that I'm aware of. (3) In your area (IYA) localpromos of champion heels Ric Flair (wrestlingPaul Jones for the Mid-Atlantic Title) and Blackjack Mulligan (wrestling WahooMcDaniel for the United States Title) conducted by Les Thatcher promoting the upcomingmatches at the Richmond Arena on September 17, 1976. (4) Truly, one of the wildestTV segments ever describing the aftermath of a fracas between the Mongols andtheir manager Boris Malenko, and Paul Jones and Wahoo McDaniel! A maniacalMalenko tells legendary announcer Bob Caudle that the fan favorites had tornhis clothes and broken his teeth (again!) which prompted Paul and Wahoo to rushthe set and run the villains off. Jones was the most incensed I ever saw him inthe segment, kicking and stomping at the helmets he had taken from the Mongolsscreaming, "COME AND GET IT!!!" Wahoo was nearly as crazed, holdingMalenko's torn clothes yelling, "YOU CAN RELACE CLOTHES, BUT YOU CAN'TREPLACE SKIN!!!" This is one of my all-time favorite segments of anyprofessional wrestling TV show! ***Mid-Atlantic ChampionshipWrestling airing on WAVY TV 10 in Norfolk, VA on September 11, 1976--- (1) IYA local promos of fanfavorites Dino Bravo (wrestling Ric Flair for the Mid-Atlantic Title) , WahooMcDaniel (wrestling Bolo Mongol in a Loser Leaves Town match) and Rufus R.Jones (Wrestling Ole Anderson in a Loser Leaves Town match) conducted by LesThatcher promoting the upcoming matches at the Scope Coliseum on September 23, 1976. (2) Studio interviewconducted with Bob Caudle with Tiger Conway, "Mr. Wrestling" TimWoods and Dino Bravo. Woods indicated that with the season changing to Fall, that he was declaring "open season" on all the belts in the area.Bravo talked about wrestling individually, signaling the gradual ending of theteam that was the World Tag Team champs only a few months earlier. (3) Ring introduction by JoeMurnick of the bout between Ric Flair/Angelo Mosca versus Klondike Bill/ JohnnyEagle. Nobody had a better ring voice than Joe Murnick! (4) IYA local promos of the bad guys conducted by Les Thatcherpromoting the upcoming matches at the Scope Coliseum on September 23, 1976. RicFlair said he would send Bravo back "halfway to Italy." Ole Andersonsaid his match with Rufus would be Jones' "last night in Norfolk." ***Mid-Atlantic ChampionshipWrestling airing on WAVY TV 10 in Norfolk, VA on September 18, 1976--- (1) Show opening with David Crockettreturning to announcing duty after an absence of several months. Wahoo McDanielwas introduced as the new Mid-Atlantic champ, after having beaten Ric Flair.The modest McDaniel said, "I knew I could beat him all the time." (2) Ring introduction by JoeMurnick of the bout between "Mr. Wrestling" Tim Woods and Joe Turner. (3) More IYA local promos of the bad guys conducted by Les Thatcherpromoting the upcoming matches at the Scope Coliseum on September 23, 1976. RicFlair said he was no longer the Mid-Atlantic champ, and told Bravo that "forall the humiliation I'm going through now, you're gonna pay dearly boy!" Malenkolaid out the stakes in Bolo Mongol's match saying, "Wahoo, it's either usor you!" (4) A special film segment narratedby Gordon Solie sent from Florida was shown to introduce Mid-Atlantic fans toGreg Valentine, who was breaking boards in the ring with his bionic elbow. Itsounded like gunshots going off when the boards broke! (5) Ric Flair was interviewedin studio by Bob Caudle and explained his recent loss of the Mid-Atlantic belt.Despite the loss, Ric said, "Women are still ripping off their clothes, women are still falling on their hands and knees saying Nature Boy, take metonight!" (6) More IYA local promos of the good guys conducted by Les Thatcherpromoting the upcoming matches at the Scope Coliseum on September 23, 1976. Wahootold the fans to sing, "Bye, bye Mongol" for when he beat Bolo andsent him packing...Wahoo's singing voice left a LOT to be desired! Rufus toldthe fans and Ole that he wasn't "goin' anywhere" after his LoserLeaves Town match. Turned out he was right! (7) The final interviewsegment featured Angelo Mosca, Blackjack Mulligan and Ric Flair. Mosca and Mulliganheld championship belts, and Flair once again had to discuss his title loss toWahoo saying ominously that Wahoo "hadn't learned his lesson." ***Mid-Atlantic ChampionshipWrestling airing on WTVR TV 6 in Richmond, VA on September 25, 1976--- (1) Show opening with BobCaudle and David Crockett running down the card including Greg Valentinedebuting against Steve Bolus, and the opening bouts in the Mid-Atlantic TagTeam tournament. (2) Ring introduction by JoeMurnick of the first round tag team tournament bout between "Mr. Wrestling"Tim Woods/Dino Bravo and the Blue Scorpion/Bill White. (3) Short clip of theaftermath of Greg Valentine injuring Steve Bolus. (4) IYA local promos of the bad guys conducted by Les Thatcherpromoting the upcoming matches at the Richmond Coliseum on October 2, 1976. RicFlair said he would batter Wahoo in their Mid-Atlantic Title match and thatWahoo would never wrestle in Richmond again. Blackjack Mulligan belittled the"Cotton Field Match" that he and Rufus were facing off in. Mulliganwas not exactly politically correct in his comments! (5) Greg Valentine had hisdebut studio interview with Bob Caudle. Greg said he came to the Mid-Atlanticarea at the request of his "brother, " Johnny Valentine and that hewasn't in the Carolinas to win friends or influence people but to put moretitles in the Valentine showcase.
