Antique Scottish Band Sampler dated 1857 by Margaret Tait, aged 10 from the Bowhill School. A very collectible Scottish Alphabet Sampler dating from the reign of Queen Victoria. It measures 17 3/4 inches in length by 9 1/2 inches in width. Embroidered in colored silks of red, pink, green, light blue, light brown and black on wool linen. It lists members of her family in initials and is designed with crowns and trees. Stitching is quite nice with no holes or tears. Very good condition t...hroughout and nicely framed in a medium brown wood frame. The tag says that it was framed by Georgetown Framing Company in Washington, DC. The frame looks about 20 years old.
