Issued by the Angolan Armed Forces (FAPLA) in 1974 So what sort of moron would be selling one of the rarest military watches of all time on ebay? This moron. Yes thats right; this was sold by Phillips on auction for an eye watering £24, 000 (link is https://www.phillips.com/detail/heuer/CH080317/22, and also screenshot of the auction page where it was sold for 31, 250 CHF - Swiss Francs...)It is know by most collectors that Heuer sold watches to the military in various countries, however the RAREST batch was a small collection of barrel case Carrera watches with shimmering blue dials sold to the Angolan Armed Forces. This super rare and original FAPLA (Forças Armadas Populares De Libertacao De Angola) Carrera Chronograph is one of approximately 10 known to exist in the world with this special engraving and matching serial numbers which are all registered with the Angola Military Beureu of records. This has never, and will never come on auction on ebay ever again. So grab one of the most sought after military watches TODAY and with no reserve.....so you shall get a bargain!The special engraving has clear legibility with Republic Popular De Angola written clearly FAPLA was the armed popular forces for the liberation of Angola, who were instrumental in obtaining the independence of Angola from a Portuguese colony to an independent state in 1974. FAPLA later became Angola's official armed forces.The dial is....well words can't do it justice. Just look at the pictures. It shimmers and dances with the light, constantly changing its face. This finish is known as the Côtes de Genève dial. It sounds fancy because IT IS FANCY. It is in Royal Blue. The hands are a clear yellow and orange. Very startling and bright against the blue metallic dial. It really is no wonder that this was chosen as a military watch. It is so easy and clear to readNow the case i.e. the meat of the watch, is incredibly INCREDIBLY thick. To the point you'll be thinking wtf. Its honestly the THICKEST watch I've ever had the pleasure of wearing. Heavy and thick are its middle names. It is thick to accommodate the legendary Cal 12 Heuer marked mechanism The case itself has a beautiful subtle sunburst finish which just adds an extra delicate little details that makes the watch just that little bit more attractive.
