This is an original antique (early 20th century) solid quarter-sawn oak cash/credit register filing cabinet made to file 180 separate accounts. There are two drawers underneath (one shallow and one deeper with three sliding file compartments). The base has a tin panel on top with slots for 180 labels. The tin panel lifts, and there is a glass panel underneath so the contents of the top drawer are visible. The filing system on on top has 180 slots with clips (two of the clips are missin...g and two are disconnected at one end.) Each panel of files is tin and spring loaded so they stand up securely. The top edges are numbered by 10's on each side as there are 10 slots on each side of each panel. There was a hinged metal clamp that would have clamped over the top of the files, but the clamp is broken off. However, the files stand securely on their own.
Other than a couple broken clips and clamp, condition is excellent. The entire piece is solid, sturdy, and fully functional. It has been refinished and there is very little wear to any of the wood surfaces. There is one gouge in the wood on the front to the right of the gold lettering, but no other obvious damage. There is some wear and fading on the printed side of the first tin panel, visible in the photos.
The register measures 21 3/4" W x 22 3/4" D x 27 1/2" H. It will be packed securely in a heavy duty double walled furniture box and fully insured during shipping. Shipping is available within the lower 48 states only and no international.
