Franklin #7 1891 Patent Typewriter Tin Lid Wooden Base Showy! Old Vtg Antique. Condition is Used.Original old Franklin No. 7 typewriter on wooden base with handled metal lid. It is marked with an 1891 patent date. The base is about 12 by 15 inches. It will be packed extremely well. This is a one of a kind unit and very few go on the market. The unit has not been fully tested but the basic functions all work. Please see photos for condition. The unit does have some wear and tear and one... of the bars appears to be bent. There is also a screw missing on the bottom to hold the unit to the wood. With its keytops spread wide like fingertips the curved Franklin typewriter has a unique en unmistakable profile. It was invented by Willington Parker Kidder, who would move on to thrust action typewriters several years later..Patented in 1889, the first typewriter was produced in 1891 and sold through the Franklin Typewriter Company.
