The book (Quarto) is rebound in modern cloth, by Riley, Dunn and Wilson (their sticker to the rear paste down), with gilt lettering pieces to the spine; binding is in good, sound, condition; some faint markings to the top of the front and rear covers, possibly dust, but invisible in most lights and a small white mark to the top of the front cover, glue from a library sticker to the lower spine.Inside:
New lining and end papers.Inside of the book is in very good condition. There is a small, round, black library stamp to the lower margin of the title page, repeated once to the outer edge, and another stamp verso of the title page with reference codes handwritten in ink. No other library stamps appear anywhere in the book.There is faint toning to the edges and just very occasional minor foxing, brown blemishes and handling marks; almost all of the plates are completely clean, any that do bear a stray blemish are affected at margins only; text pages affected chiefly at margins.There is the odd minor bump or nick to edges but no rips or tears.An extremely well preserved copy, with some of the finest hand colouring I have ever seen, so accurate, so sharp and with colours as bright today as they were when coloured.The book is complete with all 72 leaves of hand coloured plate, numbered I-LX and I-XII, all free of any rips or tears.The odd page here and there is pulling a little at the gutter.Inner hinges are sound.
The book measures 32 cm x 27.5 cm and weighs 2.695kg without packaging.
