FAMILY GENEALOGY FOR THE BATCHELDER/EMERSON/ADAMS FAMILY OF READING, MASSACHUSETTS/ ANDOVER VT FROM 1730S TO 1820S!
THESE FAMILIES ARE MOST LIKELY DISTANT COUSINS OF NOT ONLY PRESIDENT JOHN ADAMS' FAMILY (WHOM LIVED ONLY 20 MILES AWAY IN BRAINTREE) BUT QUITE POSSIBLY ALSO RALPH WALDO EMERSON'S FAMILY!
This historic bible is i...n well-loved shape, with a complete Bible text, including the Apocrypha, as issued. The attractively weathered leather covers, are rounded and detached with exposure at the corners, the first few leaves also detached (same as last few) with rounding and loss, as shown. The pages are all present, some creases and a few tears, browned with some minor soiling/ staining, foxing, and similar wear, as shown. There is a handwritten family record for David Batchelder and Sarah Adams from the 1770s through 1820s on the verso of the final Apocrypha leaf, as well as a tipped-in family record from his parents', Nathaniel and Molly (Emerson) Batchelder from the 1730s through 1780s. They lived in Reading, Mass, and his son David lived in Reading, moving to Jaffrey NH and then finally settling in Andover, VT, being some of the first settlers in that town. Measures 11" x 9" x 3".
