Antique Wildfowler pair of canvasbacks. This is a perfectly matched pair, stamped on the bottom of both decoys from Old Saybrook, CT, circa about 1950, very nice original paint on both decoys, showing in use hunting wear. I found these decoys in a guy's hunting cabin on Lake Poygan many years ago. They were on a shelf. The keels were removed to set on the shelf. The eyes are original. Decoys are structurally quiet sound. The drake has had some type o...f filler put in a gouge on the tail and bottom of left side of the decoy, it does not detract from it's shelf appearance whatsoever. The hen appears to have had some scuffing on the bottom of the left side of the decoy - probably just good in use wear from throwing it in and out of the duck skiff and boat house repeatedly. The pair are really beautifully sculptured factory decoys and would look nice on any shelf in a den, hunting lodge or a great addition to anyone's collection. I've had these packed away in boxes for at least 40 years. 17" from tip of bill to tip of tail; 7 3/4" wide. Dense, heavy balsa wood, which is what Wildfowl's were made of.
