Ornately gilded spines depicting a gilded Torch, with a Floral Mask Motif!
7.5 inches tall. Approximately 11 inches of shelf space.
ILLUSTRATED frontisplates in color, and several colored maps and plates.
Leather bindings are damaged and fragile as articulated here:In poor external condition but still generally intact despite shedding chips. —-> The Condition paragraph: read this paragraph to understand the condition, as this is as-is! Set is complete. These are the original bindings from 1909. In excellent condition overall for their age; there is some external wear, some chips, some hinges starting, some may or may not have been professionally reinforced and reattached with archival materials. There's still significant generalized wear, chipping abrasion, may be fragile, may shed small chips, may stain. A complete and antiquarian set of Shakespeare's Works bound in leather. Consider this set to have chipping, cracking, hinge cracking, fragile, a lot of generalized shelf wear, dusty, bleeding, etc... Selling at loss want to get rid of. Only as a good rustic antiquarian set for display or to read. These are the original leather bindings. Edges cased in gilt. Complete with all 10 volumes. Significant external wear as just described. The bindings are semi limp, meaning that they are not fully rigid as standard hardcovers, which has its pros and cons. The pros are that the set can be more enjoyable to read and carry about, but the constant are that it is more difficult to display and more prone to external wear as seen here. The extremities and edges will likely chip in hand, extremities of covers chipped. There is cracking or starting or chipping to hinges and hinge areas but all hinges attached. See volume 7, this is visible in the pictures, for example. No writing. These appear to be free of foxing, very clean and fresh internally, these appear unread, a closed tear noted, no previous signs of ownership. Bound in full leather bindings. These are limp bindings. Despite the aforementioned wear, these display beautifully!
