This auction is for an amazing Antique Flow Mulberry or Flow Black Ironstone Bowl with Covered Lid made by W. Adams & Sons of Staffordshire England in the mid 1800s in the company’s Striking Jeddo pattern.
The pattern depicts classic Asian Garden scene with pagodas and trees and a fence and a large Urn or Vase at the center and a similar border design. This specific shaped bowl is extremely rare and very hard to find. I have not been able to l...ocate another one in this shape and size anywhere! There are tureens with a knob shaped handle, but not another one with this type of handle. The bowl has an octagonal, 8-sided rectangle shape to it.This bowl measures approx 12 inches wide on the long side x 9.75 inches wide on the short side x 7.75 inches tall including the cover. It is in Excellent condition, especially for its age. There are no chips, cracks, breaks, repairs or even crazing. The only "flaw: to mention is a slight bit of roughness on part of the handle and the outer edges of the bowl which are certainly commensurate with its age. Its not broken, just feels a tad rough and the slightest bit of transfer has come off which can be seen close-up on the last 2 pictures. I knew the original owner and know she took exceptional care of all her antiques and this was a special piece she kept behind glass and didn't actually use, although it would be a wonderful piece for mashed potatoes or vegetables on a special table! From non-smoking homes.It displays beautifully and has a unique shape and the covered lid has a large handle on the top. The pattern is very intricate.
The plate has a W. Adams & Sons back stamp with the pattern name, Jeddo.
