CONDITION: When I found this bat it had electrical tape wound around the shaft between the center logo and knob end. I remove the tape to fine it had two screws lodged in it with broken heads. Someone had tried to dig out the screws and damaged the bat. I ground down the screws and filled the damaged areas with wood putty. The repairs are strong and smooth (see pics). Where the tape was it created a slightly different color on the bat (see pics). STILL A GOOD LOOKING BAT WITH THE FULL FLAMED COLOR!
Based on markings, this is a professional player model bat produced between 1965-79 according to the following information found on Key Man Collectibles website: http://keymancollectibles.com/Louisvilleslugger.htm / http://keymancollectibles.com/collectorscorner/louisvillesluggermodelnumber.htm
Center Brand:The 1965-1979 Center Brand remains exactly the same from the period before but the Registered Trademark is added directly after the words "LOUISVILLE SLUGGER" at the top (which is on this bat).
Model Numbers:In 1943 Louisville Slugger began stamping model numbers into the knobs on professional player model bats. The system was based on the first letter of the player's last name. Babe Ruth's bat model, for instance, was R-43; he was the 43rd player with a last name beginning in "R" to have a bat model named for him. Ted Williams used a W-148. With some of the more common names such as "Brown" a player might have a B-378.
