Headquarters, 101 Airborne Division, A.P.O. 472, c/o Postmaster, New York, New York --- A.P.O. 472 indicates that at this time the writer is located in Germany, but note included with this cover indicates the writer is at Mourmelon le Grand, France --- self-censored with Reiner Capt signature in censor's field at upper leftLetter is dated, April 15, 1945, and appears to be the second part of a longer letter, as it is marked with "2" below address window --- the writer says, "The passing of President Roosevelt was a shock to all of us here and throughout the world." --- he continues, "It came at a time when his fervent dreams & wish were almost to be realized. If President Truman will follow his policies perhaps he will partly be able to fill the shoes of a great man."He evaluates, "So far as I remember, Truman is just an ordinary run of the mill Democrat & what I remember is that he helped with his committee during the early phase of the war." --- he inquires, "What is your opinion of him and how well we fare under him when the war is over with. No doubt, time will tell." --- he remarks, "Glad your wife liked the perfume. By this time you and you[r] little one should have also received your Easter gifts which were all taken care of at the same time."He recalls, "The amount of money you made for me the first three months of this year sounds good. No doubt... we'll want a share of it after I got home. He'll get it." --- he advises, "Keep up the good work, not, & thanks for all you've done.
