Hdleobv. This Indian souvenir spoon was made by Paye & Baker. It is stamped "P&B" on the handle reverse. This Paye & Baker full figure Indian is not illustrated in any Baker & Bakercatalog and is known only because of the examples found in the collections ofsouvenir spoon collectors. This Paye & Baker Indian spoon, rare anddifficult to fine, depicts an Indian in a unique and distinc...tive stance. In thetraditional and classical canon, the head is normally turned away from theadvancing foot but in this spoon the Indians head is turned toward the advancingfoot, thus creating an unbalanced image. As a result there is a "sad"and "demoralized" quality exhibited by this particular Indian souvenirspoon.
