Ship Name= US NAVY USS BOSTONType= CAG-1, a heavy cruiser (reclassified away from CAG-1 in 1968, so this is pre-68 version, served from 1943 to 1974)
It is in the shape shown in the picture and it is a sew-on patch (not velcro).It is of much higher quality and differences in design than the newer ones being made today, plus it has the provenance below!!
I will be listing a number ...of US Navy and Coast Guard patches collected byCDR John Taylor Henrizi (1926-1981) who apparently started collecting ship patches while assigned to duty at Guantanamo Bay Cuba Naval Base. He was collecting patches from around 1965 to 1971 or so by writing to other ships and either buying or asking for them. Shown are some envelopes that I received with the patches and letters that are evidence of this (not included in patch purchase).
All of the patches I am listing with his name included were Vietnam era vintage ones. He served in the Navy during WW2 as enlisted and rose to rank of Seaman 1st Class. He left the Navy in 1946 at the end of the war and re-entered in 1951 and became an Officer. He apparently passed away in 1981 while still on active duty as a Commander and living in San Diego. (Most all this info came from Ancestry records).

Shipping on these vintage patches is $3.50 and will cover as many patches as you wish to buy in one package. Then you only pay one shipping. I do combine otherwise and will refund if overpaid.
