Highly desirable used original 1907 first edition first printing of James Guthrie (founder of Pear Tree Press) : HIS BOOK OF BOOK-PLATES, introduction by Gordon Bottomley (whose book Midsummer Eve was illustrated by Guthrie) softcover/wraps, seven by nine inches, colored frontispiece, 24 full-page b&w plates of his designs, front cover and spine are very clean but upper right corner is bumped (see pics). There were only 325 copies printed, 25 of which were signed, this is an un-sig...ned trade copy. Inspired by William Morris, he is definitely of the Pre-Raphaelite school, and in fact the extraordinarily skilled Clemence Housman did much of his engraving. Published by Otto Schulze of Edinburgh in 1907. In very good condition, no writing or marks in the text, as pictured and described.
