A charming work of the famous Scottish poet and lyricist Rabbie Burns after the famous painting of him by Alexander Nasmyth that now resides in the National Galleries of Scotland. This is a very old portrait, possibly early 19th Century and period to Nasmyth's lifetime. Age- Earlier 19th CenturySize- 35 by 31 inches approx (890 x 785 mm) including frame, canvas 27 by 22 inches approxMedium- Oils on canvas, re-lined in antiquity.
Frame- Antique gold coloured frame, some knocks, offered free with the painting.Condition- Generally dark and dirty with paint disturbances, craqueleur and old repairs throughout. The work has been re-lined- this is now coming away in places. Having said this the work still has great charm and a good period look about it.
Signature- Unsigned.
