For Auction.....From our family doll collectors we have for your consideration this little vintage 1937-1945 Pre-Ginny Vogue Toddles sailor doll. He has been stored away for many years and is in excellent condition. There is some slight erosion of finish on his nose. This is evident in close-up photos.
Our sailor is 7 inches tall, and his composition body is jointed at the neck, shoulders, and hips. His glued-on blonde mohair wig is in the original set...shor...t, parted in the middle, bangs. His blue painted eyes glance to his right, and his facial coloring is perfect.
On the nape of his neck...VOGUE
On his lower back...DOLL Co.
This little sailor is wearing a one-piece off-white linen "jumpsuit, " which opens at the upper back and ties at the back neck. His collarless blue felt jacket has lay-back lapels and long sleeves. Gold braid trims the sleeves, and three gold buttons accent the front center. The jacket closes in the front with one small silver hook and eye closure. He has on white knit socks and white slip-on faux leather shoes. His off-white linen cap has a navy blue faux leather bill. Gold braid, brass buttons and a brass "V" accent the cap.
On his right pants leg, below the knee, is the round gold Vogue sticker. One edge of the sticker has "lifted, " and there is some glue residue left on the fabric.
A real cutie pie!
