Please email any questions, and HAPPY BIDDING!For your consideration, this TRUE antique/vintage Early 1900s handmade patchwork FOLK-ART quilt in a very RARE old ABSTRACT pattern called Stacked Bricks -- this one is as FOLKY as they come.....where a thrown-together scrap quilt becomes ART! -- lots of these were made in the African-American communities, or by just plain "poor folks" of any color, creed or nationality -- highly VISUAL, using VIVID jewel-tones and earth-tones -- appears to be all old wool and gabardine fabrics, dress and suiting materials from the era -- scalloped edges on two sides, with an ice cream-cone border and backed in old green-plaid flannel or ticking fabric -- doesn't feel like there is much, if any, batting between the layers -- still a nice light weight to it, using these type of fabrics -- the quilt is a SMALLER one and measures 60" x 62", PERFECT for display purposes -- it was machine-pieced (probably on an old treadle) and then hand-quilted around each block in a very PRIMITIVE 3-4 stitches per inch....just giving it more of a FOLK-ART presence and personality -- in VERY EXCELLENT antique condition -- light wear/gentle usage -- strong, sturdy, everything intact -- colors CRISP and VIBRANT -- NICE and CLEAN, maybe some very light surface soil and really saying that for good measure -- really no issues to report -- these old beauties are getting harder and harder to find -- this quilt will work in any decor from country cottage/cabin/farmhouse to New York moderne-art loft -- laid across your bed, spread across the back of your sofa or fireside chair, or CELEBRATED by displaying on the wall as a great piece of TEXTILE ART! -- a true collector's piece....and the price is right!
