Whatmakes this item so rare is that this is a FIRST IMPRESSION printing of the bookand dust jacket. 7, 000copiesprinted in October 1955. Originalred boards, slightly marked and rolledspine ends. Minor shelf ware.Internally th...e pages are clean with no foxing, browned front/end papers as usual. Thetitle page has the ‘1955’date and all other first impression points notedincluding on page 49 the number 4 and usual dropped text. Original mapattached. The clipped jacket is original and in goodcondition. A few marks and a browned spine, minute loss on corners top edge butvery minimal. So inconclusion this is an extremely rare book and will make a fine addition to anyTolkien collection. These first impression are not common.
