This is a fantastic very impressive early antique English original flame mahogany 8 day bell striking longcase clock with all the features you would like to see from a top quality Regency period grandfather clock. This is a C1830 longcase clock by J Ramsey of Devonport all in full working order and all original with dial, movement and case all belonging to each other
The case has a arched top design to the sliding removable hood with a hinged glazed door which protects the original silvered dial with original quality carved twist pillars on the sides. The case also has a stunning patina and colour to the mahogany which can only be acquired through age with its original working lock and key to trunk door The flame mahogany case has a superb beautiful patina and colour to it which can only be acquired through age and looks very good as i am sure you can see from the pictures. All the decoration looks to be original with only the usual age discrepancies that you would expect to see and all adds to its authenticity and history. The case looks absolutely stunning displayed anywhere with a typical South West style design
The clock benefits from its original 16.75 inch x 11.75 inch arched silvered dial with engraved roman numerals. To the centre of the dial it has engraved subsidary seconds dial and engraved decorations also acting as the corner spandrels. The dial is in excellent condition with the makers name ofJ Ramsey of Devonport engraved to the centre
The clock benefits from its original high quality brass 8 day bell striking movement with anchor escapement, the movement is of 8 day duration driven by its weights and pendulum, the movement is in full working order keeping time and striking as it should as you can see in the video above with a working calendar mechanism
The mechanism comes with a 6 months return to base warranty for extra piece of mind. All our clocks are tested for a minimum of 1 week before listing onto ebay and working condition is clearly stated above
No matter how well antique clocks have been serviced they will need final adjusting and setting into beat after transport and a professional person is advised and may be required in order to do this so please bear this in mind before bidding
If on the rare occasion you receive a clock that has a problem or does not work after initial set up and adjusting by a professional person then we reserve the right for you to return the mechanism for repair by myself
There will be no refunds if the mechanism needs repair. I reserve the right for the mechanism to be returned to me for repair
I offer a 6 months return to base warranty on all my mechanisms (unless stated not working in description)
In case of a problem after a professional has attempted to set the clock up you can return the mechanism back to me for repair
Please do not take the mechanism to a local clock maker/repairer as this will render the warranty void. All repairs needed to the mechanism will be carried out by myself and not by a 3rd party clock maker/repairer unless agreed by myself beforehand. please contact me in the first instance to arrange return of the mechanism for repair by myself
Shipping the mechanism back to me will be at the buyers cost and i will pay to get the mechanism back to you after repair
All repair costs will be met by myself for 6 months after purchase. If a mechanism is faulty after 6 months then i can offer a repair service for a discounted price but this cost will be met by the buyer if after 6 months of purchase
