The US Navy SEALs grew out of the Underwater Demolition Teams of WW2, and won fame as elite naval commandos in Vietnam. After the failure of the "Desert One" Iranian hostage rescue mission in 1980, the US military recognized the need for a crack specialized anti-terrorist unit. The result was SEAL Team 6, trained from inception to perform daring hostage rescue, prisoner snatch, and high value target elimination operations. Their tactics went on to become the model for all US Navy S...EAL teams during the Global War on Terror. US Navy SEALs early in GWOT wore the classic gray "horse collar" life vest for their specialized missions. This US Navy GWOT SEAL SOCOM DEVGRU MUSTANG SURVIVAL "HORSE COLLAR" LIFE VEST is in very good condition, with some overall wrinkling, and with some scattered brownish soiling and age wear evident (ALL pictured). Otherwise, the vest is in fine shape, with absolutely no rips, holes, tears, or other damage. Most interestingly, it boasts the classic "horse collar" design, sports the original black rubber covered mouth inflation tube, with a "U.S. / L.C.I. / 2003" marked black plastic whistle neatly coiled around it, CO2 cartridge and red plastic pull cord, and fully intact gray nylon harness straps with darkened brass "D" ring securing buckles, and is marked to the famous "MUSTANG SURVIVAL" and dated "DEC 2003" in the "PROPERTY OF U.S. NAVY" contract stamping at the lower front. It carries the surnames "EGUSQUIZA" and "BATES" stenciled in black and white around the lower back and the interior harness straps, and is a fine example of a rare, original US Navy GWOT SEAL SOCOM DEVGRU MUSTANG SURVIVAL "HORSE COLLAR" LIFE VEST.
