. Please see my other auctions. Thanks to Rob Scott's exhaustive work in chronicling Zildjian stamps (find his work at robscott.net) I believe this cymbal's stamp is what Mr. Scott calls the "second stamp". That is it adds the word "trademark" to the Arabic font & K Zildjian & Cie but not the crescent and star found in later stamps. This dates this instrument to the first twenty years of the 20th century, ALMOST 100 YEARS OK enough history. This 15 ½" survivor sports 15 ferrous ...rivets a little unevenly applied. Done by maker or end user impossible to say.Hammering and lathing are prominent with the lathing extending well onto the bell both above and below. No cracks seen after careful examination under magnification. Couple of very minor edge ticks I think remnants of manufacture. She sits almost perfectly flat on a granite counter top and any deviation could be reasonably attributed to hammering as there is no significant waviness when sighting the edge. Looks like faint remnant of signature under bell. She weighs a hefty 1510 grams and needs to be ridden firmly IMHO to get the sizzle going. She can be crashed also. She has an unmolested 6mm hole so I had to mount her without a plastic sleeve for the video file.I also liked her sound much better when played on bare metal as opposed to felt pad and bare metal is what you are hearing on the sound file. I wonder what she would sound like suspended. My biggest complaint with this relic is whoever applied the rivets drilled square through the middle of the stamp. Dumb ass! This fine old cymbal is truly a collector's item.Play her or appreciate her as a venerable example of the cymbal maker's art.BROUGHT TO YOU BY WILD BILLS DRUM SHOP OF TEXAS!
