After doing a little research on this old book, we discovered that this book belonged to a confederate civil war solider from Mississippi. He drew a few pictures on the pages. Maybe they were of his teacher! This book is in acceptable shape considering it is 160 years old! It is dated 1857. Another tidbit of history of this book is more recent. About 13 years ago my daughter, a young teenager at the time, decided to write her own name in the book (trying to mimic its beautiful writings...) . I'm sure if you look, you can find it. Well the book definitely has history, "character" and charm!! I debated whether or not that I should part with it. Great for civil war period history lovers.
