First edition & Third (3rd) Impression published by L.C. Page & Company in Boston, August 1908, only a couple months after the first printing. Illustrated by M.A. And W.A.J. Claus.
***A remarkably early printing, complete with all illustrations present and clean!
Condition: the book is in very good condition. Boards show some shelfwear but gilt stamped titles to front and spine still bright and legible, though slightly less so on... spine. Portrait to front with rubbing yet clear. A few faint marks to front, bottom corners lightly bumped and top corners slightly rounded. Spine ends have light rubbing. Shows a hint of forward lean. Textblock somewhat darkened due to age. Foredge with rough cut page edges showing a few uneven tears when first cut open over 100 years ago. Inside all pages and illustrations are present and firmly attached. Pages are generally clean with a few instances of light foxing and handling marks. Hinges are good, though front feels slightly weaker than rear. Overall very good and a splendid copy of an extremely rare very early printing!
