**Exceptionally Scarce In Correct Orig DJ**
I am delighted to offer for auction an original First Edition / First Printing of the very rare first title from the Lord Of The Rings trilogy ' The Fellowship Of The Ring' Published in 1954 this is not a later reprint being one of only a couple of thousand original First Printings ever published. A very... good book in it's original state surely lacking from many collections complete with a very good original first state dust jacket that has been with the book since new.
Book Info: The Fellowship Of The Ring by J R R Tolkien, book one from 'The Lord Of The Rings Trilogy'. George , Allen & Unwin 1954 1st Edition / 1st Printing. Bound in the publishers original red cloth covers with gilt titles this is a very good example of this rare book showing minimal wear for a book of this age. The covers are generally very clean with a few light marks to the front only. Internally again very good with clean pages on the whole throughout showing just a little offsetting to the endpapers where the jacket has sat. No inscriptions and no graffiti with the map to the rear as called for. The book clearly states First published in 1954 to the verso of the main title page with no other prints mentioned showing that this is the true First Edition. A very good example of this elusive title and a rare find at that.
The dust jacket is an original first edition / first printing jacket presenting in very good order. There is a small amount of chipping to the top of the spine and one small closed tear to the front panel else on the whole super. Clean and bright with the original price intact. Correct reviews etc to show it is the correct first state. A nice find in this condition and a very rare one at that.
Overall a very scarce and worthy addition to any collector / enthusiasts shelf. Please note i do have a 1/1 Two Towers listed also.
