The Kirkus ...Review writes:
Mr. Spaeth again goes to town on Tin Pan Alley's output. In a series of essays on current songs he manages to bring in his old favorites, showing how the new songs aren't so new after all. Gibes against lack of grammar and rhyme, against the laments of self pity, the torch songs, the silly-syllabic school, the derivative tunes, the business end. Despite its cheapness and insincerity, he feels that Tin Pan Alley has its high lights. Readable, though a bit repetitive. For the Spaeth fans -- for those interested in current popular music.
