This is a very under-appreciated maker, in my opinion. Broadus mouthpieces are very well made, and made of excellent quality hard rubber. This mouthpiece has a large round chamber and deeply scooped inner side wall...s. The tip opening is marked S3, and is relatively close at .060". This mouthpiece will produce a fairly dark tone, similar to the earliest Otto Link hard rubber pieces. These can be opened up to great effect though, and can easily compete with the best Meyer Bros. pieces! The large chamber makes this a perfect match for many pre-WWII era horns. This piece is in excellent condition. The tip, table, and rails are in good shape. There is a very minor tooth indentation on the beak, but it is quite far forward (toward the body), so it won't bother most people. It could be filled and smoothed, but I would just put a tooth patch over the top and forget about it. This is a great alternative to some of the uber expensive vintage mouthpieces out there!
